The United States is in the midst of a severe nursing shortage that is expected to continue for the foreseeable future.

Founded in 2016, the Reach for the Stars Nursing Scholarship Program has awarded hundreds of scholarships to educate RNs in the United States. Our goal is to continue providing scholarships to partner hospital employees to fulfill their career goal of becoming a registered nurse (RN).

Impacting a person, a family, and a community.

Nurses make an impact far beyond themselves as their work benefits their patients, families, and communities. Thus, the breadth of the Reach for the Stars Nursing Scholarship Program far outreaches the scholarship recipients.

Creating job opportunities.

Upon graduating from nursing school, individuals are equipped with a highly marketable and sought after skill set. Reach for the Stars Nursing Scholarship Program partners with Hospital Systems to help ease their nursing shortage by providing their employees with the opportunity for educational and career advancement. Previous scholarship recipients have previously working in nursing support, radiology, surgery, transportation, translation, reception, and hospitality.

Addressing the high need for RNs in the United States.

By helping more partner hospital system employees become RNs, the Reach for the Stars Nursing Scholarship Program is helping address the ongoing nursing shortage in the United States.

“The Reach for the Stars Nursing Scholarship Program is an essential partner in strengthening nursing excellence at Parkland Health. Through this collaboration, more than 160 employees have advanced their nursing education, opening doors to life-changing career growth and helping build a strong, diverse pipeline of skilled nurses for our health system. As one of the nation’s leading safety-net hospitals, Parkland depends on programs like Reach for the Stars to support our workforce and ensure exceptional care for every patient we serve. We are grateful for this long-standing partnership and the profound impact it has on our nurses, their families and the communities who rely on Parkland.”
